چکیده
Objective: Nicotine addiction is a common health problem in psychiatric disorders. The aim of this study was to analyze the effects rTMS on comorbid nicotine patients receiving recurrent Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) therapy for major depressive disorder (MDD) and obsessive-compulsive (OCD). Method: Data 32 (23 MDD, 9 OCD) were evaluated retrospectively. We compared Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAM-D), Beck Anxiety Inventory (BAS), Yale-Brown Obsession Compulsion (Y-BOCS), Fagerström Test Dependence (FTND) scores at three time points (before treatment "0th week", end “6th week”, 12 weeks after assessment “18th week”). Results: patients’ mean age 40.47±10.20, 13(40.6%) women. A significant reduction found HAM-D, BAS, FTND 6 (p<0.001 all) 18 baseline scores. binary logistic regression showed that changes depression anxiety symptoms not associated with ratings (p=0.158, p=0.251, respectively). Conclusion: In study, it can be said reduces severity accompanying MDD OCD, independent recovery disease. This suggests an effective recommend placebo-controlled randomized double-blind studies.

Sleep disturbances in obsessive-compulsive disorder: Association with non-response to repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS).
Background Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a promising augmentation strategy for treatment-refractory OCD. However, a substantial group still fails to respond. Sleep disorders, e.g. circadian rhythm sleep disorders (CRSD), are highly prevalent in OCD and might mediate treatment response. The aims of the current study were to compare sleep disturbances between OCD patients...
متن کاملRepetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette's syndrome (TS).
There is evidence that motor and premotor cortex are hyperexcitable in obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) and Tourette's syndrome (TS). We tested whether low-frequency repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) could normalize overactive motor cortical regions and thereby improve symptoms. Subjects with OCD or TS were treated with active rTMS to the supplementary motor area (SMA) for ...
متن کاملRepetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for major depressive disorder: a review.
Several studies demonstrated that repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is an efficacious treatment for treatment-resistant major depressive disorder (TRD). Recent metaanalyses and more recent large multicentre studies provided evidence suggesting that rTMS is indeed a promising treatment; however, its efficacy has often been shown to be modest, compared with sham stimulation. We ...
متن کاملTheta-burst repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation for treatment-resistant obsessive-compulsive disorder with concomitant depression.
To the Editor: Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) is a potential therapy for major depressive disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder that acts by modulating cortical activities. 3 have developed a novel paradigm of theta-burst stimulation (TBS)—low-intensity bursts of rTMS at 50 Hz—as a safer, more controllable, more consistent, and longer-lasting rTMS. The continuous TBS (...
متن کاملRepetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the treatment of depressive disorder
This article deals with the use of repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in the treatment of depressive disorder. The method involves influencing the brain using variable magnetic field. Repetitive TMS is safe, well-tolerated and has very few adverse effects. It is the treatment of depressive disorder where psychiatrists have most experience with this method which, however, is sta...
